‘Paryavaran’ excursion organised for students

JAMMU: Department of Ecology, Environment & Remote Sensing on Thursday organised a Paryavaran excursion to Environment Park Raika for a group of students of different schools.
The objective of the excursion was to aware the real target groups (students) about the importance and conservation of environment with particular theme of the year of World Environment Day – ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, a handout read.
Students of three different schools took part in this excursion. They also participated in various events like green march, painting and debate competitions, skit, songs, etc. on the theme of the year.
DFO Environment in his key note address highlighted the need for united efforts to combat menace of plastic -the greatest environmental challenges of present time. He informed about the ways for bringing change in everyday lives to reduce the heavy burden of plastic pollution, read the handout.
Prizes were also given to the participating students. The department also distributed eco-friendly jute/carry bags and light refreshment among the participants, it added.
