World Environment Day celebrated at Pampore

Pampore: To celebrate World Environment Day, Government Upper Boys Primary School Lal Pora Chatlam on Tuesday organised an awareness programme which was held by well known environmentalist and researcher of the area Dr Sajjad- Ul-Akbar.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sajjad asked the students about the toxic impact of plastics on nature, particularly the effects of its dumping in the wetlands including the existing ones in Pampore area.
He urged upon the students to get together to alternate ways to use plastic and urged them to stop using polythene.
He explained the harmful effects of plastics as witnessed during his research on the wetlands around Chatlam and urged upon the younger generation to stop dumping of plastics in water bodies.
Later, the staff hailed Sajjad’s contribution towards environmental research.
