Srinagar: Kashmir Public Health Engineering Department Joint employees Association on Wednesday held a protest demonstration here in press enclave Srinagar demanding the release of their pending wages.
Scores of the casual labours and ITI workers from PHE department assembled here in press enclave and shouted slogans against the government for not releasing their pending wages.
Sajid Ahmad, Chairman of Kashmir Public Health Engineering Department Joint employees Association, said, “We are facing a lot of financial crisis due to the attitude of the government towards us. They failed to release our salary from last three months,”
The authorities used to pay them Rs223, per day and their wages were paid through Non-Resources Wages head which has been given to the Department of Finance now.
“The government is doing fake promise with us. We are not even able to pay for studies of our children. They are on verge of discontinuing studies,” the protestors said.
“If the state government is giving monthly salary to its employees, why step-motherly treatment with us,” the protesters questioned during a protest at press enclave.
The protestors requested the Chief Minister to look into the matter.
