Srinagar: Thousands of people chanting pro-freedom slogans Wednesday attended the funeral of Mudassir Ahmad and Sheeraz Ahmad who were killed by Army in Tanghdar Sector last month along with three more militants.
The dead bodies of Mudassir and Sheeraz, residents of Parigam in Kulgam and Lajoora in Pulwama respectively were handed over to their relatives last evening. Both were buried in north Kashmir after Army had declared all the dead as “foreign infiltrators” however, the families of Mudassir and Sheeraz later identified their kin.
Witnesses told Kashmir Reader that Sheeraz was laid to rest in Lajoora after multiple funeral prayers. The last funeral was addressed by Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Geelani telephonically before Sheeraz was laid to rest.
Meanwhile, most parts of Kulgam and Pulwama districts observed shutdown to mourn the killings of Mudassir and Sheeraz. The authorities have snapped internet services in the twin districts.
Mudassir had joined militant ranks soon after famous Hizb commander, Burhan Wani was killed in July 2016 while as Sheeraz had joined in 2017.
