SRINAGAR: MLA Shopian Advocate Mohammad Yousuf Bhat on Tuesday chaired a meeting of district officers at circuit house Shopian to review the progress of works in his constituency. He impressed upon the officers to ensure targeted development by prioritising and working upon core competencies in the district so that tangible results are realised on the ground level.
An official statement issued here said that MLA took a comprehensive review of the progress made in various projects including health, PHE, R&B, PDD, RDD, tourism, horticulture, and sanitation.
Bhat reviewed the pace of construction work of building of district hospital Shopian, which has been going on at snail’s pace for the last many years. He directed the officials of JKPCC to pace up the construction of new hospital building so that it could be completed within the stipulated time.
“Health sector being one of the core sectors in the society deserves special attention but I must not shy away in admitting that the health institution of our district is below par in terms of staff and other infrastructure. The issue has been taken up with chief minister and very soon you will see landmark improvements in our health institute,” MLA said.
The statement said that besides health, other projects that came under discussion included the construction of Rambiara bridge, Reshinagri bridge, Dubjan water supply scheme, construction of mega fruit mandi, construction of park near district hospital Shopian, and construction of playfields at various places in the constituency.
“The issue of traffic jam in Shopian town was also discussed and the concerned officials were directed to take necessary steps to regulate traffic during peak hours so that commuters are not put to hardships,” the statement added.
MLA Shopian laid emphasis for the early completion of the projects that came under discussion and asked the officers to work steadily for the quick implementation.
