‘Masarat Alam brought to Srinagar for hearing, shifted back to Jammu jail’

SRINAGAR: The incarcerated chairman of Muslim League Jammu and Kashmir Masarat Aalam Bhat was on Monday brought from Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu to Srinagar for the hearing of a case lodged against him in police station Kothi Bagh Srinagar with FIR number 52/2010.
A spokesperson of the League in a statement issued here said that Masarat Aalam was produced on Monday before Chief Judicial Magistrate where after hearing the arguments; the judge fixed the next hearing of the said case on June 23.
After the hearing, Masarat was taken back to Kot Bhalwal Jail Jammu he said adding that prolonging the “illegal” detention of Masarat showed the frustration of authorities.
“Masarat’s PSA has been quashed by judiciary and even 36th PSA is about to complete. Despite this, he is being implicated in fictitious cases and continues to languish in jails. This is the worst form of human rights violation,” he said. “The government instead of honouring the court orders is ignoring all norms and rules. Alam is being subjected to political vendetta.”
