SHOPIAN: KVK Shopian conducted its 6th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting under the chairmanship of Director Extension, SKUAST-K, Prof Mushtaq Ahmad at District Administrative Complex Shopian.
Senior scientist and Head, KVK Shopian, Dr Parmeet Singh presented the action taken as well as progress report of previous year and action plan for the year 2018-19.
Besides scientist from the Kendra, officers of SKUAST-K, heads of various development departments of the district, LDM Shopian, DDM NABARD, NGOs and local entrepreneurs, the meeting was attended by selected progressive farmers of the district.
On the occasion, three publication viz., News Letter, “Cultivation of Field Pea” and “Calf Rearing” were released by the directorate of extension and district Development Commissioner.
Deputy Commission Shopian, Gazanfar Ali suggested to include maximum villages across the district for infusing various farm oriented technologies. He also emphasised on the involvement of development departments in the future activities of KVK Shopian, read the handout.
Director Extension, SKUAST-K, Prof Mushtaq Ahmad impressed upon the scientists of the Kendra “to work in collaboration with all the allied departments for better results”. He emphasised that scientists of the KVK should be honest with themselves and should work for the upliftment of farmer community.
“All the agri and allied departments should come forward to common platform to address the issue of the farmers so that the dream of doubling farmers’ income could be realised in reality,” it added..
The programme was followed by a discussion. Suggestions from members of the committee that included officials from agriculture and allied departments, lead bank, NABARD, NGOs, FPO, local entrepreneurs and progressive farmers were also included.
