SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat Conference on Sunday said with each passing day, the anger among Kashmiri people towards government forces and ruling dispensation is increasing.
“On one hand, government claims that there are positive results to their cessation of hostilities against the people, but on the other, killings, arrests and use of brute force continue to suppress people,” a Hurriyat (M) spokesperson said in a statement.
Condemning the killing of a youth Qaiser Bhat of Fateh Kadal and injuring of another youth Muhammad Younis Bhat of Dalgate who were mowed down by a CRPF vehicle at Nowhatta on Friday, the spokesperson said such incidents exhibit “open aggression and worst form of state terrorism” unleashed upon the people of Kashmir.
“It is because of the unbridled powers given to forces and the lack of accountability that every day innocent civilians are brutally killed, which is condemnable in all forms,” he said. “The brutal use of force and the reign of terror unleashed on the mourners who were carrying the body of Qaiser Ahmad reflects that we are not even allowed to mourn the death of our dear ones.”
Meanwhile, on the directions of amalgam chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a high-level delegation comprising Mufti Ghulam Rasool Samoon, Muhammad Shafi Khan, Ghulam Qadir Beigh, Muhammad Yaseen Shah and others visited the residence of Qaiser and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family besides conveyed the condolence message of Mirwaiz.
