Docs at SDH Pattan perform operation of rare case

BARAMULLA: Doctors at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Pattan in this north Kashmir district performed an operation of a rare case of giant lipoma of breast.
Official sources in SDH Pattan said that a 62-year-old lady had swelling of breast since past 15 years. She was evaluated and diagnosis of lipoma of breast was made.
Initially she was reluctant to get operated in SDH Pattan and insisted on referral to SMHS hospital or SKIMS, but after proper assurances of preoperative and postoperative care from Block Medical Officer (BMO) Dr Masrat Iqbal, she agreed upon to undergo surgery at the Sub District Hospital.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Dr Masrat Iqbal said that patient was operated at SDH Pattan with lipoma measuring 7x2x1.2 cm from outer lower quadrant of right breast.
The operative team included Dr Imtiaz Wani (surgeon) and Dr Amin (anaesthetist). Medical officer Dr Manzoor and Dr Irfan were involved in giving best postoperative care. Theatre assistant Younis Sofi, Haji Mudasir, Tanveer Shah, Maqbool, Showqat and Rehana were present.
People have appreciated BMO Dr Masrat Iqbal for such efforts and hailed him for reducing “unnecessary” referrals.
