SRINAGAR: Three separate grenade attacks took place in Srinagar city on Saturday, injuring four government forces’ personnel and two civilians.
One grenade was hurled paramilitary CRPF personnel at Fateh Kadal area of old Srinagar. It injured three CRPF personnel and a civilian. The Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), as per a news agency, claimed responsibility of the attack. The JeM spokesperson in a statement issued to GNS said that as part of “Operation Badr”, Jaish had carried out the attack in which “several Indian forces’ personnel” were injured.
Later in the evening, another attack took place at Budshah Bridge near Maisuma in the city centre. A paramilitary CRPF trooper sustained splinter injuries in the explosion. A pedestrian is also reported to have sustained injuries in the explosion.
A third grenade attack took place at Magarmal Bagh. Sources said that unidentified persons lobbed a grenade towards the Police Control Room. The grenade exploded outside the premises and no loss of life was reported.
