SRINAGAR: Strongly condemning the killing of a youth and injuring of others who were run over by a CRPF vehicle in Nowhatta on Friday, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice president G N Monga termed it a violation of standard operating procedures (SOP) by the CRPF.
In a statement, Monga said the violation of SOP in crowd control is the reason for the incident and proper measures need to be taken to avoid such incidents in the future. “The killing of a young boy in such manner is highly condemnable. The guilty must be punished according to the law,” he said.
He said the people of the state, especially Kashmir, are paying huge price for the “utter failures” of PDP-BJP government “which only believes in use of force to control the situation in the Valley”.
“Even after the announcement of ceasefire during the holy month of Ramadan, killings have not stopped. For how long this government will control the situation in Kashmir by killing young boys,” Monga asked.
