Soldier slips to death, major critically injured in Uri

Baramulla: An army soldiers was killed and a Major-rank officer injured after they slipped from a mountain in Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.
Sources said that a team of Indian Army’s 62 RR was patrolling along the Line of Control in Zamboorpattan sector on Friday morning when two army men, Sepoy Raman Kumar and Major Amit Kumar, slipped from the mountain and fell down into a deep gorge. Both sustained serious injuries and the other troopers shifted them to the nearby base camp, but the sepoy succumbed to his injuries. The major was air-lifted to Srinagar for treatment where his condition is stated to be critical.
Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Uri, Syeed Javid Ahmad, confirmed that the duo fell down from a mountain and a soldier was killed. He said a police case has been registered into the incident.
