DGP orders ‘martyrs/retired police assistance cells’ at all districts, units

SRINAGAR: To extend timely assistance to the families of the police personnel “who sacrifice their lives for the nation”, to redress the grievances of the retired police personnel besides strengthening the existing Savera Scheme, PHQ has ordered for the constitution of the “martyrs/retired police assistance cells” in all district headquarters and units.
Director General of Police, S P Vaid on Friday issued orders for constituting these “martyrs/retired police assistance aells” at all district and unit level to resolve the issues related to the families of slain and police retired police personnel. This will be in addition to the existing mechanism for assisting the NOKs of the slain and retired personnel in resolving their issues.
Each Assistance Cell will have one non-gazetted officer and two lower subordinates as its members and will be supervised by a gazetted officer. It will strengthen the existing mechanism of Savera Scheme for the assistance of the families of slain personnel. All district and unit heads have been asked to constitute these Cells immediately.
