SRINAGAR: In a noble and inspiring gesture in the month of holy Ramadan, a restaurant owner with the help of some friends organized an Iftaar- the sunset meal to end Ramadaan fast- for the Orphan kids here on Wednesday on the banks of Dal Lake at Makai Park, Boulevard road.
Aziziya, a restaurant run by a local, had organized this Iftaar for the orphans and other students who are currently studying Quran and other Islamic subjects in Darul Uloom Harwan at Makai Park Lawns.
A buffet of full course of Wazwan was arranged for the kids who ended their fast after reciting the holy Quran and reading the prayers.
“We did not want it to be a formality; I was hurt to see people inviting orphans and then sending them away with a packet of juice and few dates,” said Adnan Rashid, Manager at Aziziya.
“So we arranged a full buffet of Wazwan course including fish with starters, soft drinks and desserts. We wanted to make them feel special,” he added with a smile.
Almost over a hundred kids, wearing khan suits and donning white caps, sitting on Carpets in sunset background lawns were provided “V.I.P treatment” and were served by the owner himself along with his managers and other catering staff.
“Quran and Sunnah are my main motivations. Allah says feed the poor and the orphans and our beloved prophet (PBUH) also advised us to treat the orphans well. So, I wanted to earn their blessings this Ramadan,” said Umar Aziz Dar, Owner of Aziziya.
“We organized this Iftaar last year also and Allah willing will continue to do it in future”.
