Bandipora: Forest officials on Friday seized 2 quintals of banned medicinal plants in Bandipora.
The banned plants were being brought from Gurez in 8 vehicles.
A forest official said that they had some information about banned herbs being transported from Gurez, so to nab the smugglers they put a Nakka with the help of police and forest range officer near Pethkot during wee hours.
The official said that the herb, Fritillaria locally know as ‘Sheet Khaar’ which is banned in the market was recovered from eight vehicles coming from Gurez and were entering Bandipora.
Divisional forest officer Hamid Malla told Kashmir Reader that total 2 quintals of Fritillaria herb were recovered from eight vehicles as each vehicle almost dumped 25 kilos and were transporting them outside.
