Shopian: Two days after an army vehicle was hit by an IED blast near Sugan village of Shopian, government forces raided the village on Tuesday night and picked up three persons, including a father of four children.
Locals identified the detained persons as Altaf Ahmad Seh, son of Ghulam Muhammad Seh; Gazi Muhammad Bhat, son of Gulzar Ahmad Bhat; and Farooq Ahmad Najar, son of Noor Muhammad Najar. They said that Farooq Ahmad is the father of four children.
Locals said that a joint team of government forces barged into the houses of these persons at about 1am in the night and took them away.
Senior Superintendent of Police Shopian Shailandra Kumar Mishra told Kashmir Reader that these persons have been “detained for questioning”.
Two days ago, after the IED blast hit an army Casper vehicle and left three soldiers injured, government forces had allegedly vandalised at least 60 houses in Sugan village, including the house of Hizb commander Zeenat-ul-Islam, and damaged many apple orchards. Villagers said on that day the forces damaged window panes of several houses, smashed windshields of parked vehicles, and beat up some villagers.
