SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) on Tuesday remembered Aasiya and Neelofar – two young women of Shopian who were raped and murdered in 2009.
Paying tributes to the duo, a JKDFP spokesperson in a statement said, “India has been using rape as a war weapon against the oppressed Kashmiris who have been struggling for their right to self-determination for decades.”
Strongly condemning the Indian probe agencies for not delivering justice to the people of Kashmir, the spokesperson demanded an international probe into all the killings in Kashmir including the double rape and murder of Aasiya and Neelofar.
He said it is very important to punish the culprits behind rapes and killings and only this can prove a powerful confidence building measure. It is also the responsibility of the justice loving people in and outside Kashmir to fight for the victims like Aasiya and Neelofar, he said and expressed solidarity and sympathy with their families.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson strongly condemned the “hooliganism” of government forces in Sugan village of Shopian district saying, “The way Indian forces ransacked and vandalised residential houses and apple orchards proves that these forces think Kashmiri people as their conquered slaves.”
“Damaging public property by government forces is a sheer example of state sponsored terrorism,” he said.`
