SRINAGAR: Blaming forces for increasing waywardness among youth, Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday said forces are involved in liquor trade and supply and are intoxicating youth.
He expressed serious concern over the “mischievous activities” of forces saying they are “scandalously supplying drugs like brown sugar and liquor in nook and corner of the state”.
“Forced occupation is the root cause of all evils,” Geelani according to a statement issued here said while chairing Hurriyat’s Executive Body meeting at Hyderpora here which was attended by heads or representatives of its constituent parties.
“The participants discussed the prevailing grim situation in the state and it was observed that Indian authorities instead of implementing a realistic and political approach for the resolution of issue are following their obsessive dogma,” the statement said adding the participants expressed serious concern over the “ill-treatment” meted out to detainees in Delhi’s Tihar jail and condemned the continued detention of resistance leaders including Shabir Ahmad Shah, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Peer Saif -Ullah, Meraj u Din Kalwal, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Dr Gh Mohammad Bhat, Muzaffar Ahmad Dar, Shahid Yusuf, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Shahid ul Islam, Mohammad Aslam Wani and Zahoor Ahmad Watali.
“We need to build our character as per guidelines laid by Islam,” Geelani said in his address while stressing upon participants to pursue the mission with persistence and steadfastness.
“It (unity and steadfastness) is the secret of our victory against the oppressors who are hell bent on creating confusion by hatching conspiracies and promoting waywardness,” he said.
Hurriyat chairman asked people to repose faith in Almighty Allah and seek refuge in Him. This, he said, “will infuse spirit and will power to withstand the brutalities and hardships”.
