Gastroenteritis breaks out in Narwah Baramulla

Baramulla: Panic gripped in several villages of Narvaw Baramulla from past few days following the outbreak of gastroenteritis due to which over three hundred people have fallen sick.
Official sources in the health department said that most effected villages are Laridora, Reshmuquam, Naradari, dangarpora and now it affected the residents of Malpora and other. They said over three hundred people were suffering from dehydration; diarrhea, vomiting and other symptoms of gastroenteritis.
The affected residents said that they are being provided unfiltered water from a reservoir located at Kalas Doba Nowgam due to which the disease broke out in the area.
The officials in the health department said that several teams of health department visited the affected area and are treating patients in mobile camps while some were shifted to public health centre Sheeri and others to district hospital Baramulla.
The local people of the area appealed authorities to take serious action against the officials of public health engineering (PHE) who are providing dirty water to the people of areas. Block Medical Officer (BMO) Sheeri Dr Farooq confirmed to Kashmir Reader that three hundred people were checked and treated by health officials in the effected villages, he said several medical teams from Baramulla and Srinagar visited the affected area.
“We also provided free medicine among the people, however the situation is under control”. BMO said.
