Charar-I-Sharief: A shutdown was observed in Pakherpora area on Monday against alleged highhandedness of the government forces, who residents said damaged parked vehicles in the area during the night.
The residents said the forces were repeatedly damaging properties and damaged tyres of a number of parked vehicles during night to annoy the villagers.
“Army often vandalizes our houses, vehicles and all things which come in their way to vent their anger” a local resident said.
According to villagers army punctured and damaged tyres of dozens of parked vehicles in the area during the night. They claimed the army was justifying the act as a reaction to the stones hurled on their vehicle near the bus stand.
President of the taxi stand at Pakherpora, Mohd Ayoub, said that they have filed a written complaint with the SDPO Charar-i-Sharief.
“We have filed a written application in police station Charar-I-Sharief demanding full compensation from army as they are always ransacking our property” he said.
“If they don’t respond to our demand by evening we will continue shutdown till there is any concrete solution to this problem,” he added.
SDPO Charar-i-sharief Ali Mohammad Dar confirmed to Kashmir Reader that a complaint has been filed.
“We have received a complaint from people that forces damaged their parked vehicles during night and we are inquiring the case as there is no identified involvement of forces in it”.
“Army is refuting the allegations and deny their involvement in the tyre puncturing case,” he added.
