SRINAGAR: “Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq and Shaheed-e-Hurriyat Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone represent the essence of unity and oneness of Kashmiri nation,” said the chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik on Sunday while paying tributes to the duo on their anniversary.
In a statement, Malik said, “Shaheed-e-Millat as a young man strived for the return and recovery of Moyay Muqadas under the banner of a united front and till his last breath stood and strived for unity among Kashmiris and Shaheed-e-Hurriyat breathed his last while defending unity and oneness of this nation. The best tribute to these great sons of the soil is to safeguard unity and oneness among the ranks and files of resistance camp.”
“Both these martyrs represented the essence of unity among Kashmiris and it was our duty to stand united against Indian hegemony and aggression. The freedom struggle of Kashmiris is adorned with the blood of martyrs and therefore no power on earth can defeat it by oppressive measures,” Malik added.
Recalling the efforts and sacrifices of ‘Shaheed-e-Hurriyat’ Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone, JKLF chairman said, “He was one of the preeminent politicians, intellectual and a humble human being who fought for the cause of freedom endured all hardships, sufferings and miseries but never compromised on his principles. Shaheed Lone sahib rejected power and position and joined the rank and file of the freedom struggle and never looked back. His demise was a personal loss to me as I learned a lot of things from him. I consider him my teacher and feel proud to be his student.”
Remembering the struggle and sacrifices of ‘Shaheed-e-Millat’ Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq, Malik said, “Shaheed Mirwaiz belonged to a family that has always inspired Kashmiris. His family led this nation in the fields of politics, education, religion and many other walks of life. Mirwaiz Shaheed himself endured hardships of jails, torture and oppression in the way of freedom but never surrendered before tyranny and oppression and finally sacrificed his life in the way of truth and freedom.”
JKLF chief appealed people to march towards martyrs’ graveyard Eidgah today to pay tributes to the duo.
