SRINAGAR: On the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to state, hundreds of youth Congress activists on Saturday staged a protest demonstration in Jammu to express resentment against the continued causalities of soldiers and civilians due to cross border firing.
The activists staged protest demonstration near Press Club Jammu raising slogans against Pakistan and questioning Modi government for its “failure” to effectively deal with the neighbouring country.
According to a statement, the protesters said the people at border areas are “unarmed soldiers guarding the nation who face the first bullet of the enemy”. They demanded effective policy for the people of border areas.
“The measures taken by government are insufficient and more steps are needed to ensure fool proof security and safety of civilian population residing near the border,” they said, adding that the BJP led NDA government has miserably failed to check the “Pak designs” and to ensure security and safety of border residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
