SRINAGAR: Director General of Police, Dr S P Vaid has granted scholarship of rupees 10.55 lakh in favour of 194 wards of serving police personnel, who have secured eighty percent and above marks in annual examination of class 10th and 12th during the academic session 2017.
A police official in a statement said the scholarship has been granted out of Central Police Welfare Fund for 116 meritorious students of class 10th and 78 of class 12th, which include 103 girl students also.
He said the students from class 10th, having secured above ninety percent marks are granted scholarship of rupees six thousand each and the wards with eighty percent and above marks are given rupees four thousand each.
“Similarly wards of class 12th with above ninety percent marks are given scholarship of rupees seventy-two hundred each and with eighty percent or above marks are granted rupees six thousand each,” he said.
The police official said the two wards of serving SPOs have also been granted meritorious scholarship of rupees six thousand each for securing the prescribed criteria of marks in class 10th and 12th. “This was the first time that the SPOs have been brought under the scholarship scheme,” he added.
