Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Thursday called the ceasefire in Kashmir announced by New Delhi during Ramazan as “a cosmetic measure”.
“It is a cosmetic measure. We need to find the root cause of the conflict and the reason why youth is picking up arms. We need to address the dispute,” Mirwaiz said while addressing a seminar, titled ‘Responsibility of Leadership in Safeguarding the Sanctity of Martyrdom’ at Hurriyat head office Rajbagh.
Pertinently, Home Ministry Rajnath Singh on Wednesday asked the forces not to launch anti-militancy operations in the state in view of holy month of Ramazan.
