Kashmir Press Club to be thrown open on June 21

‘Elections within three months’

Srinagar: The managing committee of the upcoming Kashmir Press Club (KPC) has announced that the club would be thrown open on June 21. The committee which met on Saturday also announced that the elections for the permanent body of club would be held within 90 days.
A statement issued here said that the committee accepted the resignation of its interim president Salim Pandit and the members unanimously decided to keep the post of the president in abeyance till the elections for the Club are held.
Vice president Shuja ul Haq will discharge the duties of the president, till then, it said.
The exact dates for the election will be announced immediately after the inauguration.
The managing committee has also urged the executing agencies to expedite the process of renovation so that the deadline is met.
The committee also put on record Pandit’s contribution in formation of the KPC.
The meeting was attended by Ehsan Fazili, Meraj-ud-din, Habib Naqash, Asif Qureshi, Shuja ul Haq, Haroon Rashid, Shamim Meraj, Shahnawaz Khan and Moazum Mohammad.
