HAJIN: A shutdown was observed in Shahgund village of Hajin against the arrest of two youth in nocturnal raids.
Mohammad Shafi Dar and Javid Ahmad Dar were arrested by government forces during nocturnal raids in the village. Family members of Mohammad Shafi told Kashmir Reader over phone that police raided their house around 11.34pm and were looking for Shafi’s brother Mohammad Rafiq.
The family alleged that police took Shafi along because Rafiq was not at home. The second youth picked up by police, Javed Ahamd Dar, is a carpenter by profession. His family told Kashmir Reader that they were unable to understand the reason of Javed’s arrest.
Confirming the arrests, a police official said that the two “miscreants” were “creating law and problems” in the area. They have been lodged in Police Station Hajin, he said. The families said the arrested youth were not involved in any law and order issues and appealed for their urgent release.
