Windstorm in Baramulla, woman injured, houses damaged

Baramulla: A woman was injured, while and houses and crops were damaged as a windstorm hit several areas of Baramulla district in north Kashmir Saturday afternoon. The winds were followed by heavy rains.
Rafiqa, wife of Farooq Ahmad Hajam received minor injuries when the roof of her house collapsed due to winds in Syeed Karim Mohla of Old Town Baramulla.
Local sources said that heavy winds created panic in Boniyar, Narvaw, Baramulla, and Rafiabad areas damaging houses, roofs, and uprooting trees. Power supply in many areas including Sopore was snapped due to broken poles and power lines. In Boniyar, two houses belonging to Abdul Qayoom Ganie of Bachi and Hafizullah Ganie of Bachi were damaged.
Qayoom’s house was damaged when a giant pine trees uprooted by the wind fell on the house.
