PSA slapped on Jama’at, TeH leaders

Srinagar: Authorities on Saturday slapped Public Safety Act (PSA) on Jama’at-e-Islami and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) leaders who were arrested on May 6 soon after they participated in the funeral prayers of slain university professor, Dr Rafi Ahmad at Ganderbal.
Bashir Ahmad Lone, Jama’at district president for Srinagar had led the funeral prayers of Hizb militant at Ganderbal and addressed the mourners while as TeH district president Mohammad Rafiq Shah was among thousands who attended the funeral prayers.
Sources said that orders to slap PSA on the said leaders were issue late last night and were implemented early today.
Dr Rafi Ahmad was among five militants including Hizb commander Saddam Paddar who were killed in Badigam village of Shopian during a fierce gunfight with government forces.
