JKLF protests against killings

SRINAGAR: On the call of the joint resistance leadership (JRL), JKLF leaders and activists staged a peaceful protest against unabated killing in Kashmir. The protest was led by party’s vice chairman Advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt.
Raising pro-freedom slogans, the protesters marched towards Lal Chowk and staged a sit-in near Budshah Chowk, a JKLF spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
Condemning the killings, Advocate Bashir Butt said, “These killings and other oppressive measures can never deter the nation of Kashmir from treading the path of resistance and freedom. A nation that has resolved to achieve freedom and is rendering valuable sacrifices for the righteous cause cannot be intimidated by killings, spree of arrests, jails and other oppressive measures.”
He condemned the continuous imprisonment JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, Noor Muhammad Kalwal and others; and house detention of ailing Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani and Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Butt said a ban has been put on mourning and condolences which is highly regrettable. “The choking of space on peaceful political and religious activities is like trampling all norms of democracy and ethics,” he said.
A joint resolution of JRL was also read out and passed on the occasion which is annexed to this press note. Many JKLF leaders read out JRL resolution at various other Masajid too which was unanimously adopted and accepted by the people.
