Baramulla: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice president and MLC Gulam Nabi Monga on Friday said that Congress has never changed colours for the sake of power but remained dedicated to its cause of strengthening and serving people, and is committed to overall development of the state.
Addressing a public gathering in Nowshera area of Uri, Monga said Congress feels highly concerned and is duty bound to seek resolution of the issues confronting the people of the state. He said people are facing multiple issues due to wrong policies of coalition government led by PDP, and government has miserably failed to address the issues.
Reacting to the “so-called” developmental agenda of PDP-BJP coalition, Monga reminded the people of “two and half years” rule of Congress government under the chief ministership of Ghulam Nabi Azad and said Jammu and Kashmir had touched the new heights in respect of development, education, transparency and corruption free system.
He said it was Congress Party which has whole heartedly supported the then chief minister Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in every respect to run the state.
The Congress leader also condemned the recent statement of Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat, terming it “irresponsible”.
Does he want to kill Kashmiri people, Monga asked, adding, “We want to solve the Kashmir issue politically, but when Army chief will forward such statement, it is unfortunate. We Kashmiri people are peace lovers and we never believe in war.”
