LAHORE: The provincial assembly of Pakistan’s Punjab province on Fridaycondemned the statement of Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Kashmir. The resolution noted that the army chief had termed “the struggle for freedom in India-Held Kashmir (IHK) as futile”.
In an interview on Thursday, Rawat had threatened Kashmiris of “more force” if they continued to seek “Azaadi”.
“The Indian (Army) general’s statement was an admission that the Kashmiri people are not terrorists but ordinary people who are fighting for freedom,” the resolution tabled by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MPA Shoaib Siddiqui pointed out.
The Punjab Assembly urged Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states and other international organisations to intervene in the matter and ensure that the Kashmir conflict is solved in accordance with the United Nation’s resolution, Dawn news reported.
