Srinagar: The Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar on Wednesday issued directions to station head officer (SHO) Noorbagh police station to file a status report on the crushing to death by an armoured vehicle of Srinagar youth Adil Ahmed Yadoo, on May 5, 2018.
The family of the victim had moved an application through Advocate Bashir Siddiq and Advocate Muhammad Ashraf Bhat, seeking a status report of the case.
A case (FIR number 51/2018) into the death of Adil against an “unknown vehicle and unknown driver” has been registered by police at Noorbagh station.
Adil, 18, was a resident of Gasi Mohalla in Safa Kadal. He was crushed to death under a police armoured vehicle in downtown Srinagar.
Talking to Kashmir Reader, Advocate Bashir Siddiq said, “Prosecution has assured us that police will submit the report on Friday morning. Once we receive the status report from police, if we are not satisfied with the report, we will avail the legal remedy available.”
“The FIR registered by police in this case is against unknown vehicle and unknown driver. The offences mentioned in the FIR are rash driving (279 RPC) and causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others (337 RPC). There is no mention of causing death by negligence (304-A RPC),” Siddiq said.
