APSCC demands high-level probe into tourist’s killing

SRINAGAR: All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has demanded a high-level probe in the recent stone pelting incident at Narbal which led to the death of a tourist from Chennai. The Committee has said that time bound enquiry should be held so that the culprits are identified and brought to book.
In a statement, APSCC chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said it is important to expose the elements who are hell bent to defame the centuries-long ‘Kashmiriyat’. He said Kashmiris have always been hospitable and kind and ensured that no harm whatsoever is caused to the guests visiting this place.
“The state government should intervene in the matter and direct the police to carry out a time bound probe in the stone pelting incident. This would ensure that swift and stern action is taken against the people or agencies responsible for this unfortunate incident,” Raina said. “It is the duty of the government to expose the anti-Kashmir elements and they must come up to the expectations of the people.”
The APSCC chairman expressed dismay that some people have blown the incident out of proportion “for their own ulterior motives. He said that people irrespective of their political ideologies have condemned the stone pelting incident adding that there is no scope for politics on the matter. He asked the different media organisations not to give any communal tinge to the stone pelting incident.
“Despite being pushed to the wall Kashmiris have always been very kind and hospitable to the people coming from different parts of India and abroad. Glorious example of Kashmiriyat got displayed once again as all the political parties condemned the stone pelting incident,” Raina said. “National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Hurriyat Conference and other separatist organisations voiced their concern against the stone pelting incident.”
He said Kashmiris have been suffering losses on account of stray stone pelting incidents adding that same should not be generalised. “NC and PDP should stop playing the blame game since the people of Kashmir have been suffering due to the wrong policies of both these parties,” he said.
Raina conveyed his sympathy to the Chennai family and said that whole Kashmir is with them in this hour of grief and sorrow.
