Unscheduled power cuts irk Kandi residents of Baramulla

BARAMULLA: Residents of Chandosa area of Kandi Baramulla are up in the arms against PDD for unscheduled power cuts in the area.
They said that PDD is resorting to unscheduled power cuts in Muran Tangwari, Rajpora, Chandosa, Wahiduna.
“We are paying electricity tariffs on time but department fail to provide us electricity as per schedule,” Riyaz Ahmad a local said.
He added that that from past six months, there is some fault in receiving station Chandosa and department failed to repair it.
We can’t even charge batteries of our mobile phones because of frequent power cuts.
Residents appealed the concern department to look into the matter.
Smuggler held with 20 kg poppy in Udhampur
Jammu: An inter-state narcotic smuggler was arrested with 20 kg of poppy in Udhampur district on Tuesday, a police officer said.
Acting on a tip-off, police said they intercepted a gas tanker at Jakhni on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway today.
Chamkaur Singh, hailing from Punjab, was arrested after 20 kg of poppy was recovered from him, the officer said.
The vehicle used by the smuggler was also seized, said the officer, adding that a case has been registered against the accused and further investigation of the case is going on.
