Hurriyat (M) pays tributes to Khanyar martyrs

SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat Conference on Tuesdaypaid tributes to Khanyar martyrs on their 27th anniversary, saying, “On this day 25 unarmed innocent people were massacred by government forces.”
A spokesperson of the amalgam in a statement said that on the directions of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a delegation comprising Mehrajudin Choo, Muhammad Syed Deedamari, Advocate Yasir Dalal, Farooq Ahmed, Sahil Ahmed War, Khateeb of Khanyar shrine Moulvi Nazir Ahmed Qadiri besides many prominent faces of traders fraternity offered Fateh Khawani for the Khanyar martyrs.
“The mission of martyrs would be taken to its logical conclusion,” the delegation said and asked people to remain steadfast till the ongoing movement is taken to its goal.
It strongly condemned the forces’ “highhandedness” in Shopian and other south Kashmir districts and imposition of strict curfew in majority of downtown areas, and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.
The delegation condemned the continuous house detention of conglomerate chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other resistance leaders, terming it as political vendetta.
