Shopian: Third civilian killed, toll 3

Shopian: A youth identified as Adil Ahmad has been killed by government forces during clashes in southern Kashmir’s Kulgam district taking the civilian death toll to 3.
Reports said that Adil had received a bullet injury in his back near Bihibagh when government forces opened fire on the protesters. He was brought dead to district hospital Kulgam.
Adil is a resident of Ashumji Kulgam.
Earlier, two civilians identified as Asif Ahmed Mir of Rohomoo Pulwama and Sajad Ahmad Rather of Dooru Islamabad were killed during the clashes with government forces.
Five militants including top Hizb commander Sadam Padder and Kashmir University assistant professor Dr Mohammad Raafi were killed in the encounter that broke out early Sunday morning in Badigam village after the joint team of Army, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area.
Sources said that over a dozen protesters have been injured during clashes near the encounter site.
