Shopian: Army fires bullets on civilian protesters, several injured

Srinagar: Several civilian protesters have suffered bullet injuries after army fired upon them in Czitragom village of Shopian district.
Czitragom village is one of the neighbouring villages of Badigam where five militants were killed earlier in an encounter.
Local sources said that massive clashes were going on in the village between government forces and civilians. “Army opened fire on the protesters severely injuring many of them.”
They said that the injured have shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Earlier a gunfight raged between militants and government forces in Badigam village for several hours.
Five militants including top Hizb commander and the only surviving militant of Burhan Wani group was killed in the gunfight.
The killings have sparked intense protests across southern Kashmir and parts of Central Kashmir.
