DC Ganderbal orders strict action against forum
Ganderdal: Majority of government Primary and Middle schools in Ganderbal district remained closed on Saturday as Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers (RETs) and SarveShikshaAbhiyan teachers (SSA) on Friday went on a two-day lockout demanding release of their salaries.
ReT’s are paid by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. As their salaries get delayed by months, they demand that the state government should pay them.
“ReT, SSA teachers have no option left but to lockdown schools as we are forced to come on roads against non-payment of salary from last four months,” said a teacher.
“SSA teachers including ReTs have been without salaries despite performing their duties in tough times,” he said.
However on Friday Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Dr PiyushSingla asks SSP to take actions against the leader of teacher forum for forcefully closing the schools in Ganderbal district.
In an order issued by deputy Commissioner Office Ganderbal asks SSP Ganderbal to take strict action under law against the individuals who as per preliminary reports are involved in coercive lockdown of school in Ganderbal district.
The order reads: The undersigned received numerous phone calls from parents/revenue staff in the morning about the forceful closure of few schools in the district by few teachers because of the lock down, at number of places school children’s were forced to wait outside the school without any prior information.
The order said that the interest of education and in the order to avoid repetition of such instances it is desired that strict action shall be taken against them.
Meanwhile general secretary Jammu Kashmir Rehbar e Taleemteachers forum condemned the order of DC Ganderbal.
