Protests in KU after Asst Prof goes missing

Srinagar: Protests rocked Kashmir University on Saturday after a contractual assistant professor appointed in sociology department went missing, reports said.
The missing assistant professor has been identified as Muhammad Rafiq Bhat, a resident of Ganderbal.
The said assistant professor is missing since Friday, reports quoting his family sources said.
A Kashmir University statement said that the family members of Dr Mohammad Rafi Bhat on Saturday morning reported to the university’s chief proctor that he is missing since Friday.
The vice-chancellor has written to the Director General of Police, requesting him that all efforts be made to trace the whereabouts of the said contractual lecturer, the statement said.
According to the statement the vice chancellor personally met the protesting students and assured them that all efforts would be made to trace the missing lecturer.
The university is in touch with the local police, the statement said, adding, “Students are requested to maintain calm and cooperate.”
