SRINAGAR: Locals of Weir Chattabal on Saturday offered Fajr prayers 45 minutes late the because government forces prevented the maulvi sahab from leading the prayers. Ajaz Ahmad, the maulvi who leads the prayers at Jamia Weir mosque, told Kashmir Reader that he was stopped by forces when he was going out for prayers. “On the way to the mosque I was told not to go to the mosque because there was a cordon. I went back home. Half an hour later, at about 5am, a person called for prayers. Only three persons attended it. The prayers were offered at 5:15, which otherwise are scheduled at 4:30,” he said.
