Srinagar: The family of the missing Assistant Professor (contractual) Dr Muhammad Raafi has been called by the police to report in Shopian where a gunfight is raging since this morning.
A family source of Raafi said that early today morning they were informed by the police that their son is trapped in the encounter and were asked to report at District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian.
This, he said, concludes that Raafi had joined militancy as soon he had gone missing.
Raafi went missing Friday afternoon after he informed his family that he is coming home from the Kashmir varsity.
As he did not turn up till late in the night at home and his phone continuously remained ‘not reachable’, the family approached KU authorities and local police and filed a missing report.
An encounter broke out between militants and government forces at Badigam, Shopian early Sunday morning.
In the initial firefight one SOG personnel, Anil Kumar and army soldier of 44 RR were injured.
Soon intense clashes rocked the area and one civilian suffered injuries and was hospitalized
