Shopian: Government forces on Sunday killed two more civilians during clashes in southern Kashmir.
Sources said that that a civilian identified as Zubair Ahmad, resident of Rajpora area of Pulwama was brought dead to district hospital Shopian.
They said that Zubair had two bullets in his chest.
Reports said that Army fired bullets on civilian protesters at Nagbal area when they were receiving the bodies of the slain militants.
Another civilian Nasir Ahmad Kumar was also injured in clashes in Shopian village. He was shifted to a nearby hospital where from he was referred to SMHS hospital in Srinagar in critical conditions. He later succumbed to injuries.
Earlier, three civilians identified as Asif Ahmed Mir of Rohomoo Pulwama, Sajad Ahmed Rather, son of Manzoor Ahmed Rather, a resident of Dooru Islamabad and Adil Ahmad a resident of Ashmuji village of district Kulgam were killed during the clashes with government forces.
Five militants including top Hizb commander Saddam Padder and KU assistant professor were killed during an encounter. The gunfight broke out in Badigam village early today after the joint team of Army, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area.
A policeman and a soldier of 44 RR were injured in the initial exchange of fire with the militants, reports said. The injured were shifted to 92 base military hospitals in Badami Bagh Srinagar.
