JAMMU: All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary in-charge J&K affairs Ambika Soni arrived here on Saturday on a two-day visit of Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of present organisational affairs.
Accompanied by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president G A Mir and other senior leaders, Soni arrived at PCC headquarters where she was received by senior party functionaries, a party statement issued here said.
Ambika held a detailed interaction with senior functionaries of PCC, members of AICC and PCC from Jammu province to take stock of the organisational issues and held detailed deliberations about present atmosphere of state. Later she held separate meeting with block presidents.
Soni was briefed by PCC president about the state of affairs including situation in the state besides the membership including constitution of blocks, districts and PCC, DCC delegates. She was apprised about the ongoing process of constitution of the districts units.
Ambika Soni described party workers as backbone of the organisation and delegates and block presidents as pillars of the party. She asked them to work hard to strengthen the Congress party under the young leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
“Youth have to play a major role in strengthening the organisation and that’s why Rahul Gandhi chose to induct more and more youths in the organisation,” she asserted and asked party carders to expose the failures of centre and state government.
Soni said that large scale resentment prevails in state and country and Congress party is the only secular alternative which is acceptable in all three regions of the state. “The Congress cadre should work together to grab the opportunity because of failures of centre and state government to come up to the exception of the people,” she said and expressed confidence that party will emerge stronger and come to power in the next assembly elections in the state.
