Woman injured in Pak shelling in Kupwara

Kupwara: Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged heavy gunfire and mortar shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdar sector of Kupwara district on Thursday night. A woman was injured when a mortar shell hit her house in Tangdar. She was taken to hospital where her condition is said to be stable.
Sources said that the Indian and Pakistani troops targeted the posts of each other in Tangdar sector along the LoC. One mortar shell fired by Pakistani troops hit a house in which a middle-aged woman was present. The injured woman was identified as Noor Jahan, wife of Ghulam Hassan, resident of Tangdar.
The firing continued for hours, locals said.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara AS Dinkar told Kashmir Reader that a civilian woman had sustained minor injuries and a few houses had been partially damaged in the Pakistani firing. He said no firing had been reported since 8am Friday. The situation is under control and the injured woman is stable, he said.
