SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health condition of senior resistance leader Shabir Ahmad Shah who is languishing in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
Geelani in a statement said Shah is suffering from multiple ailments and is not provided specific treatment. He said the incarcerated leader is being subjected to “political vendetta”.
“Those languishing in jails including Masarat Aalam Bhat, Dr Gh Mohd Bhat, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Peer Saifullah, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Meraj-u-Din Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Zahoor Ahmed Watali, Shahid Yusuf, Dr Qassim Faktoo, Dr Shafi Shariati, Gh Qadir Bhat, Tariq Ahmad Dar, Manzoor Ahmad, Mohd Muzaffar Dar, Gh Mohd Khan Sopori, Ameer Hamza, Ab Gani Bhat, Mir Hafeez Ullah, Mohd Yousuf Falahi, Raies Ahmad Dar, Shakeel Ahmad Yatoo and Mohammad Yousuf Mir and others are ill treated and in absence of proper medical care they are facing immense hardships,” Hurriyat chairman said.
Lashing out at authorities, Geelani said they have turned state into a virtual prison and that authorities are trampling the basic rights.
He also slammed authorities for placing Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and Mohammad Ashraf Laya under continuous house arrest.
Geelani reiterated his appeal to people to boycott all upcoming elections, saying that these provide Indian leadership an opportunity to “mislead” the world community.
