SRINAGAR: The Kashmir World Film Festival (KWFF), presented by Zee TV & Zee Cinema, will bring creators, diverse audiences, and the industry together in Srinagar during the bi-annual storytelling festival running 19-25 June 2018, the Festival director Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan said.
In a statement, Khan said the collaboration with Zee TV & Zee cinema continues KWFF’s ongoing mission to empower positive, creative, motivational, humanity-based storytellers with the opportunities and tools to bring their stories to life.
The 2018 Festival is set to build on the momentum from last year’s edition, which not only saw record setting attendance numbers in just 2 editions, but also the sizeable number of entries of innovative and thought provoking, entertaining films, he said.
“In our previous two editions of film festivals, we have screened films from countries like USA, Italy, Spain, Jordan, Lebanon, Iran, Afghanistan, etc. We also had participating films from different parts of India in different languages like Kashmiri, Bengali, Malayalam, Bhojpuri, Dogri, Ladakhi, Urdu, Hindi and English,” Khan added.
Mushtaaque said the inaugural KWFF editions premiered to huge crowds with the first-ever such initiative in the Kashmir Valley. “Following a banner year that saw record submissions in its very first two test initiatives across all of our festival programs, it is clear that there is more exciting work being created in more different ways and on more different platforms than ever before, by the participants. For the 3rd and the following editions of the festival, our mission is to provide filmmakers with unparalleled opportunities to share their projects with a global audience.”
THE KWFF director said the 2017 line-up made major cultural headlines from the media industry (both local and national), local audience, creative filmmakers, social media, international bloggers and most importantly the think tanks of Kashmir and Bollywood, to the likes of representatives of various fractions of the society.
“Festivals so far have been graced with the presence of celebrities/guests form Mumbai, Delhi and other parts of the country which included veteran filmmakers, writers and actors like Saeed Mirza, Govind Nihalani, Arunaraje Patil, Anjum Rajabali, Rajit Kapur, Anwar Jamal, Imam Siddique and other guests from Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh and Jammu,” he said.
“We have had support from the prestigious organisations like Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), National Film Archives of India (NFAI), Films Division (FD), Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI), and Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF),” he added.
