Pulwama: Unidentified militants on Friday evening threw a hand grenade at the police station in main town Pulwama, following which the station guard fired multiple rounds in the air.
The grenade exploded right outside the police station premises, but without causing damage or injuries to anyone.
The attack was carried out at around 6:40 PM. SSP Pulwama Chaudhary Muhammad Aslam confirmed that a grenade was hurled at the police station by militants.
“Militants lobbed a grenade at police station Pulwama, which exploded outside. The alert sentry fired a few rounds in air,” Aslam said.
He said that the explosion caused no damage or injuries to anyone. “The area has been cordoned off and searches are being conducted,” he said.
Meanwhile,Anantnag police here in tweet refuted reports that there were clashes in Janglat Mandi area..
During the evening clashes also erupted in Laizbal and Manzhama, Iqbal areas along the Khannabal-Pahalgam road.
Local sources told Kashmir Reader that the government forces, after being pelted with stones, got down from their vehicles in Manzhama and damaged vehicles and other property in the area.
