Pays tribute to slain youth
Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) on Thursday condemned the “indiscriminate” use of force by the government forces that include lethal pellets and live bullets on the peaceful protestors at Wangam, Shopian in which a minor boy was killed and dozen others were seriously wounded.
The Hurriyat termed it as an open aggression and worst form of “state terrorism”.
In a statement, the Hurriyat said that “every day innocent civilians are killed which is because of the unbridled powers given to the forces and the lack of accountability, which is condemnable in all forms”.
It said, “Brutal use of force and the reign of terror unleashed in Wangam, Shopian is now a routine affair of the forces who continue to kill Kashmir’s young at their will and wish.” Paying rich tributes to slain youth Umar Ahmed Kumar, who was a student, Hurriyat said that even teenagers and small boys are not being spared “but shot and killed by the forces”.
Meanwhile, on the directions of APHC chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a delegation comprising Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Mushtaq Ahmed Sofi, Farooq Ahmed Saudagar, Muhammad Sidiq Hazar and Sahil Ahmed War visited SMHS hospital to take the stock of the health of dozens of injured youth of Shopian. The delegation apprised the APHC chairman about the condition of injured especially those hit by pellets and bullets.
The families and attendants of the injured complained that were deprived of the quality treatment and there was a shortage of specialized doctors in the SMHS hospital which is a cause of concern.
APHC spokesman also condemned the arrest of senior APHC leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza.
