Sopore: Less than 20 hours after a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Chankhan locality of Sopore town, the nearby Noorbagh locality was sealed by security forces on Wednesday. The army’s 22 RR, the Sopore Police, and the paramilitary CRPF jointly launched a CASO at Noorbagh after “inputs of militants’ movement in the area.”
Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore Javeed Iqbal told Kashmir Reader that the area had been sealed because of inputs of presence of militants there. He added that so far no contact had been established with militants but the search was on.
Reports from the area said that extra forces have been deployed across the area and this had affected public movement.
Late on Tuesday evening, the Chankhan area of Sopore was cordoned off by government forces after they received information of militants’ movement in the area. After several hours of searches, the operation was called off when the militants could not be found.
