SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Molvi Umar Farooq addressed the Shab-e-Baraat congregation at historic Jamia Masjid here and urged people to follow the message of the holy Qur’an and the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Mirwaiz in his speech stressed upon the importance of seeking forgiveness for sin, and led special Istighfaar prayers during the night.
He also prayed for the health of ailing prisoners lodged in various jails across the state and outside JK and for the betterment of Kashmiri people, a statement issued here said. Mirwaiz also offered special Fateha prayers for those who passed away in last one year in particular and those who died since past 27 years of conflict in Kashmir, in general.
He prayed for deliverance from “tyranny and injustice” that people of Kashmir are undergoing and beseeched the Almighty to take people out of it.
“The event was broadcast live on Facebook and many Kashmiris outside valley were able to watch the night long proceedings in Jamia Masjid on internet,” the statement said.
